Official Rules (September 2026)

By entering into this NanoClaw Templates Hackathon (“Hackathon”), each participant (“you” or “Participant”) agrees to these official rules (“Rules”). NanoClaw is NanoCo’s open-source agent framework. The Hackathon is a skill-based contest; no purchase or payment is required or improves your chances of winning. Winners are selected on the merits of their Submissions under the judging criteria below.

1. Contest timeline

• Submissions open: Friday, September 4, 2026
• Submissions closing deadline: Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 8:59 p.m. (UTC)
• Judging period and Discord community vote: September 7–9, 2026
• Winners announced: Wednesday, September 10, 2026

Entries received after the deadline are not eligible. NanoCo’s clock is the official timekeeper.

2. Eligibility

1) The Hackathon is:

• open to individuals who are at least 18 years old and have reached the age of majority in their place of residence at the time of entry;
• open to teams, subject to a maximum team size of three (3); each individual may only participate in a single team, and every team member must meet the eligibility requirements and agree to these Rules; one member must be designated to receive any prize on the team’s behalf;
• not open in any jurisdiction where participation or receipt of a prize is prohibited by applicable law;
• not open to residents of countries or regions subject to applicable sanctions or export control restrictions under applicable law (including those sanctions imposed by the US, EU, UK, Singapore or Israel) and including any individuals or organizations designated by the US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control;
• not open to any Sponsor employees, contractors, and their immediate family or household members, may participate only in a non-competing capacity and are not entitled to any prizes;
• not open to any Hackathon judge.

2) Before entering, check that your participation and Submission comply with any employment, consultancy, confidentiality, invention-assignment, sponsored-research, university, or similar obligations towards third parties that apply to you. Obtain any required permission and do not use or disclose another person’s confidential information or property.

For a team entry, each team member authorizes the designated representative to act for the team in connection with administration of the Hackathon and receipt of any prize, and confirms that the representative is authorized to submit the Submission and grant the rights in Section 7 on behalf of every team member with respect to all contributions to the Submission and demo. The team must resolve its own ownership, attribution, prize-sharing, and other internal matters.

You are solely responsible for all costs of entering and participating in the Hackathon, including equipment, tokens, internet access, data, travel, and other expenses.

3. Submissions

1) To participate, you must build a NanoClaw agent template and submit it through the official entry form, which collects your contact email, the category or track you are entering, and a link to the template pull request (each, a “Submission”). Each Submission must run and include a README, a description, and a short demo video showing the agent or workflow in action.

2) Categories and tracks. The Hackathon has three (3) separately judged categories: the Overall Category, judged by NanoCo; the Tavily Track; and the DIAL Track (the Tavily Track and the DIAL Track, each a “Partner Track”, judged by the relevant co-Sponsor). You must enter each Submission into exactly one (1) category or track, selected by you on the entry form. A Submission entered into a Partner Track must make substantive use of that co-Sponsor’s product; NanoCo may, at its reasonable discretion, move a Submission that does not qualify for the Partner Track it was entered into to the Overall Category, or decline to consider it in that Partner Track.

3) Number of Submissions. Each entrant may make up to four (4) Submissions in total: up to two (2) in the Overall Category, up to one (1) in the Tavily Track, and up to one (1) in the DIAL Track. Each of your Submissions must be a distinct template. The same template may not be entered more than once, whether in the same category or track or in more than one category or track. For the purposes of these limits a team is a single entrant, and, as set out in Section 2, an individual may participate as part of only one (1) entrant, whether individually or as a team member.

4) One judged prize per Submission. No Submission may win more than one (1) judged prize. A Submission cannot win both in the Overall Category and in a Partner Track, and cannot win in both Partner Tracks. The Community Pick is not a judged prize for the purposes of this paragraph, and a Submission may win both a judged prize and the Community Pick.

5) Submissions must be your original work or include only third-party/open-source components you are entitled to use and provide as part of a Submission, and must not infringe third-party rights. You must clearly identify all third-party and open-source components in the README or other Submission materials, comply with their licenses, and include required notices and attribution. Furthermore, all information and materials you submit must be accurate and complete when submitted.

6) Your Submission and demo must not include undisclosed confidential information of third parties or personal data that you do not have a sufficient legal basis to provide as part of the Hackathon, and must not include malicious code, credentials, API keys, passwords, or secrets.

NanoCo may request reasonable evidence of eligibility, authorship, required permissions, and compliance with third-party and open-source licenses; we may disqualify your Submission should you fail to do so.

4. Judges’ panel and winner selection

Overall Category. A panel of three (3) judges appointed by NanoCo will select the 1st and 2nd place winners from among the Submissions entered in the Overall Category, based on the following criteria: originality, usefulness, broad appeal, quality of implementation, and documentation. If there is a tie, NanoCo’s representative on the panel of judges will have a casting vote. The judges’ decisions are final.

Partner Tracks. The winner of each Partner Track is selected by judges appointed by the relevant co-Sponsor (Tavily or DIAL, as applicable), applying the criteria above together with any additional criteria that co-Sponsor publishes for its track. Each Partner Track is judged separately from the Overall Category and from the other Partner Track.

Community Pick. The Community Pick is determined by a public community vote on Discord during the judging period and is separate from, and independent of, the judging described above. All Submissions are eligible for the Community Pick regardless of the category or track they were entered into, and one (1) Community Pick winner is selected across the Hackathon as a whole.

NanoCo and each co-Sponsor may decline to award a prize in any category or track that does not receive Submissions meeting the eligibility requirements and a reasonable standard of quality. The judges’ decisions are final.

5. Winner notification and prizes

1) Winners will be notified by email using the contact address provided at entry and announced on Wednesday, September 10, 2026. A winner must respond within seven (7) days after notification and provide any requested information. Before awarding a prize, NanoCo may reasonably request proof of identity, eligibility, shipping details, tax information, and compliance with these Rules and applicable law. If NanoCo cannot contact a winner, the winner is ineligible, or the winner does not respond within seven (7) days, NanoCo may disqualify the winner and select an alternate winner. NanoCo is not responsible for inaccurate or unreachable contact information.

2) Prizes are:

• 1st place Overall Category: a Reachy Mini robot (approximate retail value US$499.00).
• 2nd place Overall Category: a Raspberry Pi 5 Starter Kit (8GB) (approximate retail value US$228).
• Community Pick: a NanoClaw swag bag (water bottle, t-shirt, sticker pack, and a personalized 3D-printed NanoClaw mascot).
• Partner Track prizes: Tavily and DIAL may offer credits and specific category prizes, as determined by the respective co-Sponsor. Every winner also receives NanoClaw stickers.
• Registry gift: NanoCo may, at its discretion, provide a small gift to selected non-winning entries that it chooses to feature in the template registry.

3) Prizes are non-transferable and may not be redeemed for cash. NanoCo may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if necessary. Winners are responsible for their own taxes, duties, and import fees. NanoCo may withhold or report taxes where legally required. If a prize cannot lawfully be shipped to a winner’s location, NanoCo may offer a comparable substitute available in that location, or the winner must forfeit the prize.

6. Template registry and community submissions

NanoCo may accept eligible Submissions for the NanoClaw template registry under a Community section and may feature selected templates; selected non-winning featured entries receive the registry gift described in Section 5. For any Submissions admitted to the registry, NanoCo may edit, update, maintain, and distribute the template, per the license provisions in Section 7. For any Submission, NanoCo may make emergency changes or remove it if it contains malicious code, insecure packages or dependencies, or otherwise poses a security, legal, or policy risk. Furthermore, NanoCo may also suspend, remove, or restrict access to any Submission after receiving a credible third-party claim that it infringes or violates another person’s rights, without first deciding the merits of the claim.

7. Intellectual property

As between the parties, you retain ownership of any intellectual property rights you might have in your Submission and demo, subject to any third-party and open-source software contained in such materials. By entering the Hackathon and making a Submission, you grant NanoCo and its affiliates a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, non-exclusive, transferable, and sublicensable license to evaluate, host, use, reproduce, modify, maintain, combine, display, distribute, promote, and publish the Submission and demo, in whole or in part and in any media. NanoCo will credit you as the original creator when it features or distributes your template. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you consent to the uses and modifications allowed by this Section and waive, or agree not to assert, any moral rights you might have in the Submission and demo.

Without detracting from the generality of the foregoing, NanoCo may elect to release the featured template contained in your Submission under a permissive open-source license (currently MIT). You acknowledge and agree the publication and any use of your Submission, including any derivative or fork thereof, may continue under the open-source license even if NanoCo will stop hosting the agent template. For the avoidance of doubt, NanoCo has no obligation to accept, feature, publish, support, maintain, or continue hosting any Submission.

8. Privacy

NanoCo will collect and process Participants’ personal data (such as name, contact email, country of residence, payment or shipping details for prize fulfillment, and platform identifiers) to administer and judge the Hackathon, verify eligibility and compliance, fulfill prizes, make public winner announcements, and share such personal data as necessary with service providers and prize or credit providers. The processing of Participant personal data as part of the Hackathon is subject to NanoCo’s Privacy Policy, available at https://nanoclaw.dev/privacy, and applicable data protection and privacy laws.

By entering the Hackathon, Participants acknowledge that NanoCo may use and publish their name, photograph, image, winning status, submission and results in connection with the Hackathon, including for winner announcements, publicity, PR, social media and other promotional communications, to the extent permitted under applicable law.

9. Disclaimer, liability, and indemnity

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Hackathon and prizes are provided “as is,” without express or implied warranties of any kind, including warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

NanoCo, the other Sponsors, and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, and representatives shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential losses, including loss of use, data, business, profits, or revenue, arising from participation in the Hackathon or the acceptance or use of a prize, and their total liability for direct damages to a Participant will not exceed the retail value of the prize won by that Participant or, if no prize was won, US$100. These limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Each Participant will indemnify, defend, and hold harmless NanoCo, its affiliates, prize or credit providers, and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, and representatives from and against third-party claims, losses, damages, costs, and reasonable attorneys’ fees arising out of or relating to (i) the Participant’s breach of these Rules, violation of law, fraud, or willful misconduct, or (ii) any third-party claim alleging that the Participant’s Submission or demo video infringes or misappropriates another person’s intellectual property rights or violates an applicable third-party or open-source license.

10. Disqualification

NanoCo may disqualify any Participant or Submission that is ineligible or violates these Rules, or any Participant who engages in fraud or manipulation, tampers with another’s Submission or Discord voting, interferes with the Hackathon or another Submission, tries to compromise a platform or system related to the Hackathon, or otherwise threatens its fairness, security, or proper operation. If a team member engages in such conduct, NanoCo may disqualify that member, the Submission, or the entire team, in its discretion.

Furthermore, if you are unable to uphold these Rules, NanoCo may, at its sole reasonable discretion and at any time (both during the Hackathon or afterwards, as applicable), exclude you from the Hackathon and you may be required to forfeit any prizes or awards that have been allocated to you without compensation of any kind. You hereby irrevocably waive any claims or rights in connection with any such disqualification, exclusion, and/or forfeiture.

11. Publicity

By making a Submission, you hereby consent to NanoCo’s use of your name, username/handle, likeness, and Submission for promotional purposes in any media, without additional compensation.

12. Miscellaneous

1) This Hackathon is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by LinkedIn, X, Instagram, TikTok, Discord, or any other platform. Discord and other platforms are used only for community voting or communications and are not responsible for the Hackathon or its results. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Participants release those third-party platforms from any claims relating to the Hackathon.

2) These Rules and the Hackathon are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without giving effect to its conflict-of-laws principles. The courts of Tel Aviv-Jaffa shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or relating to these Rules or the Hackathon.

3) NanoCo, at its sole discretion and without notice, to change or modify these Rules and to cancel, suspend, discontinue, modify or adapt the Hackathon for any reason any liability or obligation to compensate Participants. Rights of Participants which already accrued prior to the change will not be affected. Any changes or adaptations to the Hackathon will be made public in an appropriate manner, including via NanoCo’s website.

4) If any provision of these Rules is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

5) These Rules are the entire agreement between NanoCo and each Participant concerning the Hackathon and replace all prior or contemporaneous communications on that subject. If any promotional materials conflict with these Rules, these Rules control. NanoCo’s failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
